Jawoyn people have a wealth of knowledge about their environment developed over tens of thousands of years. Their country includes Nitmiluk National Park and the broader Katherine region in the Northern Territory, and information about seasons, weather, rivers, animals and plants has been passed down from generation to generation. This traditional ecological knowledge has been captured in a full colour calendar and features the five Jawoyn seasons – Jiyowk, Bangkarrang, Malapparr, Jungalk and Guran – as well as key plants and animals found on Jawoyn country.
