Jawoyn Seasons Calendar for Katherine Region - Northern Territory - Australia
Jawoyn people have a wealth of knowledge about their environment developed over tens of thousands of years. Their country includes Nitmiluk National Park and the broader Katherine region in the Northern Territory, and information about seasons, weather, rivers, animals and plants has been passed down from generation to generation. This traditional ecological knowledge has been captured in a full colour calendar and features the five Jawoyn seasons - Jiyowk, Bangkarrang, Malapparr, Jungalk and Guran - as well as key plants and animals found on Jawoyn country. -

Jawoyn is an Aboriginal language which, before colonisation, was spoken on the Katherine River well into what is now Arnhem Land, and on river systems in Central Arnhem Land. This Thesaurus provides an overview of important categories – human classification, kinship terms, and plant and animals terms.
